Spruce & Soil is led by Michael Spruce, an ISA Certified Arborist and Colorado Springs native with nearly two decades of experience caring for trees, plants, and landscapes throughout the region.

Michael’s background blends hands-on arboriculture, environmental science, and landscape stewardship, with extensive experience managing complex and high-visibility properties.

Experience & Background

  • Arborist & Garden Specialist at Colorado College (2013–Present)

  • Manages a large urban forest and numerous specialty gardens including planting, pruning, removals, and pest management

  • Leads the Tree Campus USA program and Tree Advisory Committee

  • Develops long-term tree and landscape management plans

  • Supervises crews and provides education on tree care and safety

Prior experience includes estate gardening, conservation work through AmeriCorps, and habitat restoration.
